Helping people find needed support for eating disorders in their communities

How we worked with Beat to rebuild its HelpFinder platform

The UK eating disorder charity, Beat, was looking to rebuild its HelpFinder platform- the first national, comprehensive directory of services and supports for eating disorders.

As it stood, HelpFinder needed a redesign to make it easier for people to use and for Beat to manage and update on the backend so that the content could stay as fresh and up to date as possible.

The new HelpFinder was designed so that anyone could look up what services were available near them based on their post code, with NHS services and those available through Beat at no charge listed first.

A range of filtering options were needed to help people be able to refine their searches based on their age, the type of service (e.g., carer service), the method of delivery (e.g., online, in person), and specialism (e.g., binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa). For each result, key information about that service is included along with details for how to access that service.

Since its relaunch in 2022, thousands of people access HelpFinder each month, and even the NHS points to the resource.
