How we used photography to help ActionAid tell moving stories from Gaza

5 days spent. 7,000 km traveled. 2,000 photos taken. 1 campaign image library delivered.

As ActionAid UK prepared for their Christmas fundraising appeal, they wanted to tell the kind of moving stories that help connect supporters and donors with the people ActionAid serve. To do that they needed powerful stories and bold, beautiful imagery.

As ActionAid UK prepared for their Christmas fundraising appeal, they wanted to tell the kind of moving stories that help connect supporters and donors with the people ActionAid serve. To do that they needed powerful stories and bold, beautiful imagery.

To help with this, our Creative Director Paul travelled with the ActionAid team to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, meeting with people and photographing them over the course of one week.

The challenge was how to capture stories that reflected the lives of the subjects in a respectful, responsible way that both gave them a voice and also exposed ActionAid supporters in the UK to the harsh realities of life in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Paul took thousands of photographs, analysed and processed them, and delivered them to ActionAid ready for use online and in print in the Christmas 2017 fundraising campaign.

The photos he took are powerful, moving and played a huge part in a successful fundraising communication strategy.
