The Developer Society upgraded the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre's digital presence using Wagtail CMS, creating a flexible website with a business directory, incident tracking, and multilingual support. This enhanced BHRRC's ability to communicate its work and manage content, resulting in a 50% increase in page views and greater global reach.

How we used photography to help ActionAid tell moving stories from Gaza

The Developer Society's Creative Director traveled to the West Bank and Gaza Strip, capturing powerful images for ActionAid UK's Christmas fundraising appeal. Over 5 days, he took 2,000 photos, creating a compelling visual narrative that respectfully portrayed local lives while connecting UK supporters to the region's realities.

How we helped the Samaritans reach more people through a Self-Help app

We helped Samaritans go digital with their first mental health app. Working closely with their team, we designed a user-friendly tool for people to get support without calls, track feelings, and access resources. Built on solid research and agile methods, the app let Samaritans reach thousands more people in need.

How we helped Choose Love build their donation platform

The Developer Society created a custom donation platform for Choose Love, revolutionising their online fundraising. The new system, optimised for speed and user experience, boosted conversion rates to 19.8%, far exceeding sector averages. It enabled multi-currency donations and easy campaign creation, significantly enhancing Choose Love's ability to support refugees.

How we helped CIVICUS beautifully model thousands of data sources

With increasing attacks on community groups, NGOs, charities and other civil society organisations across the world, CIVICUS needed a way to document the global pattern of repression, aggregating data from their members to pull together a picture of a complex global trend. The Developer Society partnered with CIVICUS to create the CIVICUS Monitor, a tool mapping global civic space. We developed a system that aggregates worldwide data into a user-friendly platform, beautifully visualising complex trends in civil society repression. This empowers activists and journalists with crucial information at their fingertips.

As the UK’s leading suicide prevention charity, Samaritans volunteers respond to around 10,000 calls for help every day. They needed more volunteers than ever to meet the growing demand for their helpline. We helped them develop an intuitive, volunteer-led dashboard to support Samaritans volunteers with their lifesaving work.

Motivating more active journeys to school with Living Streets

A generation ago, 70% of people in Britain walked to school - now it’s less than half that. Living Streets came to us with a clear problem they needed to fix, and, appropriately, it was traffic based: they needed to revamp Travel Tracker for their Walk to School Challenge. We rebuilt the system to handle peak traffic, improving registration and data visualisation. The new tool manages up to 140,000 daily registrations—double the previous capacity—motivating thousands of children to adopt active school travel habits.

Together, we overcame unique challenges, including poor local bandwidth and extensive content migration, to deliver a modern, engaging platform. Built on Wagtail CMS, the new site effectively highlights the Foundation's scientific research and environmental impact, bringing their important mission to life for a global audience.

How we improved support services with Scotland's Domestic Abuse & Forced Marriage Helpline

Partnering with Scotland's Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline, the Developer Society helped make it more user-friendly and secure with new features like texting services and enhanced safety measures. This rapid overhaul, completed in just five months, greatly improved SDAFMH's ability to support vulnerable callers and packed in five years' worth of planned upgrades.

How we supported Helplines Partnership through a digital transformation

Working with the Helplines Partnership, we laid the groundwork for their digital transformation. We redesigned their website based on user research, streamlined back-office processes, and integrated Wagtail CMS with Airtable. This customisable system improves user experience and provides a scalable foundation for the organisation's future growth.

Helping The Leprosy Mission Great Britain to own their digital destiny

The Leprosy Mission GB partnered with the Developer Society to rebuild their digital presence. Using agile methodology and the open-source Wagtail CMS, we created a sustainable, flexible website that aligns with their budget. This collaborative approach empowered TLM GB to independently maintain and evolve their digital strategy.

How we created a brand for a new campaign organisation looking for payback

The Developer Society rapidly created a brand for Debt Hacker, a new campaign organisation addressing short-term loan industry issues. Working collaboratively with a team of specialists, we developed a cohesive visual identity and brand toolkit in just weeks, enabling Debt Hacker to quickly establish its presence and tackle urgent financial justice concerns.

How we spread the love with All Out

The Developer Society has had the opportunity to partner with All Out on multiple occasions, including a Valentine's Day campaign to highlight global LGBT+ challenges. We created an engaging digital experience blending serious content with a light-hearted approach. This creative strategy amplified All Out's message, contributing to their ongoing efforts to mobilise supporters for love and equality worldwide.
